May has begun. Now we see more sun, and every day pleases us with new flowers, greenery and just warmth. And Mother’s Day is coming. Why not surprise mom by helping your kids create a heartfelt homemade gift for the mom to express their love this Mother’s Day? Here are five easy DIY gifts kids can make with a bit of help to make any mom feel special:
Postcard for mom
The simplest, classic gift is to create a postcard for mom with your own hands. You can use different creative techniques such as drawing or applique.
Photos of flowers
Take coloured cardboard, coloured paper, and cupcake liners. Cut out flower blanks for kids to make creative applique. You will also need photographs of children (faces). Print out children’s portraits, cut out the faces as a circle and glue them into the applique in the center of the flower.
Creative work can be placed in a photo frame.
DIY flower pot from sticks
Another fun art project for kids to do on Mother’s Day is to create a colourful flower pot. Find a recycled jar or another small container, craft or popsicle sticks, and some glue. Once the flower pot is ready, fill it with her favourite plant, and it will be a keepsake that will make her smile.
Bottles wrapped in yarn
A Mother’s Day art project that older kids will love is making these beautiful vases for mom. This is an easy way to give some flowers on Mom’s big day.
